If I understand your system correctly, you are using a VFD, (variable frequency drive) to provide power to the compressor motor. In some circles the VFD is called an inverter. Great idea… we introduced that technology into the pump drives of small desalination systems utilized on yachts.
Here’s an idea: use that Inverter (VFD) approach to the roof top mounted air conditioners installed on RVs. Currently the RV market is stuck using the old capacitor-start style of compressor in the roof top air conditioners. Using the inverter (VFD) approach would revolutionize the RV industry and probably would not increase the cost. The current hot setup is to use a ‘soft starter’ to eliminate the current spike at startup but the capacitor still remains. That start capacitor is usually the failure point in those air conditioners and usually with 3-4 years after purchase. Inverters (VFD) would eliminate the need for those soft starters and improve overall reliability.
